As our Newcastle Mining team continues to grow, we're seeking a Study & Design Manager to lead the planning, coordination and delivery of multidisciplinary mining projects across a diverse portfolio of work. This role is ideally suited to an engineer with a strong mechanical engineering background who has broadened their experience across multiple disciplines and project phases. You'll play a key role in shaping studies, leading engineering teams and working closely with clients to deliver practical solutions from concept development through to detailed design.

You'll be involved in a wide range of projects, including sustaining capital programs, brownfield upgrades, process plant improvements, materials handling infrastructure, water management systems and major project studies for mining clients across Australia.

  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering studies and design projects
  • Coordinate technical teams across mechanical, process, civil, structural and electrical disciplines
  • Manage project scope, budget, schedule and deliverables
  • Facilitate study workshops, risk reviews and value engineering activities
  • Drive project execution from concept and prefeasibility through to detailed design
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with mining clients and key stakeholders
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams
  • Support business development activities and identify opportunities for project growth
  • Ensure quality, safety and technical excellence across project delivery

You are a collaborative project leader who understands how successful mining projects come together across multiple disciplines. You'll ideally bring:

  • Degree qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
  • Extensive experience delivering mining, minerals processing or heavy industrial projects
  • Strong technical grounding in mechanical engineering, ideally with exposure to civil, piping, materials handling or process infrastructure
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary studies and engineering teams
  • Experience across concept studies, feasibility studies, FEED and detailed design
  • Strong understanding of project delivery, stakeholder management and commercial drivers
  • Ability to balance technical quality, project outcomes and client expectations
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Chartered status or eligibility for chartership will be highly regarded
