In this role you will act as technical lead on complex geotechnical and multidisciplinary projects, shaping design strategies and delivering critical technical outputs. You will guide ground models, geotechnical assessments, and solutions across diverse infrastructures, ensuring robust risk management and quality. You’ll manage project delivery, client relationships, and business growth while mentoring engineers and engineers geologists. The position offers involvement in innovative, sustainable, and digital delivery across cross-functional teams. Responsibilities
- Act as technical lead on complex geotechnical and multidisciplinary projects
- Lead development of ground models, geotechnical assessments and design solutions
- Manage project delivery including programme, commercials, quality assurance and risk
- Lead client relationships and support business development activities
- Direct planning, procurement and management of ground investigations
- Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentorship to engineers and geologists
- Support bidding and tender submissions with technical methodologies and resource planning
- Champion innovation, sustainability and digital delivery across project teams
- Collaborate across disciplines, regions and sectors to deliver integrated solutions
- Support succession planning and professional development within the team
- Work with senior leaders on strategy, workload planning, recruitment and utilisation
Key requirements
- Strong technical background in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology and ground risk management
- Significant experience in geotechnical design, analysis and interpretation across sectors
- Proven ability to lead technical delivery and manage project risks
- Strong commercial awareness with project management and fee control experience
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience leading ground investigation programmes and oversight during construction
- Track record in supporting business development and client growth strategies
- Experience mentoring junior team members and promoting technical excellence
- Chartered status with ICE, Geological Society or equivalent, or demonstrable progress towards chartership
