Overview

In this role you will lead and grow WSP’s maritime civil engineering capability, delivering complex port, terminal and maritime infrastructure projects. You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team to provide technical leadership, deliver project outcomes, mentor engineers, and shape the future of the maritime practice. You will engage clients, pursue opportunities, and promote sustainable, low‑carbon design solutions. This is a senior, impact‑driven position at a global professional services firm with a focus on growth and capability development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the maritime civil engineering capability
  • Provide technical leadership across ports, terminals and maritime infrastructure projects
  • Support concept design, FEED, detailed design, due diligence, owner’s engineer and construction support
  • Develop and mentor engineers, building a high-performing team
  • Guide quality and promote best practice across civil engineering activities
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated client solutions
  • Engage with clients to understand challenges and shape outcomes
  • Contribute to business development, proposals and strategic pursuits
  • Promote innovation, digital delivery, sustainability and low‑carbon design
  • Support safe, efficient and commercially successful project delivery
  • Shape the future direction of the maritime engineering business through leadership and recruitment

Key requirements

  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional standing
  • Significant experience in maritime civil engineering, ports, terminals or major civil projects
  • Strong understanding of port infrastructure with pavements, utilities, drainage, earthworks
  • Proven experience leading technical teams and coordinating multidisciplinary delivery
  • Experience supporting major bids, client engagement and business development
  • Strong understanding of quality management, design assurance and governance
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineers
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Collaborative leadership style with strong technical credibility and commercial awareness
