Overview

As Contract Manager in the WSP Local Government team in Wales, you will oversee delivery of contract and partnership objectives for councils across Rhondda Cynon Taf, Merthyr Tydfil and Bridgend. You will build trusted client and internal relationships, ensure NEC4 compliance, and drive opportunities for growth and cross‑functional collaboration. You will lead contract negotiations, governance, and project delivery while promoting innovation, social value, and continuous improvement. This role keeps a strong regional presence and positions you to shape transport and infrastructure outcomes with a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong trust-based client and internal relationships
  • Serve as the primary contact for contract/partnership matters
  • Ensure NEC4 contract compliance, governance and risk management
  • Lead client meetings to review progress and identify opportunities across the WSP portfolio
  • Utilise wider networks to deliver best of WSP to clients
  • Identify, create, and pursue business growth and cross-functional opportunities
  • Lead contract negotiations, management and delivery of contract promises
  • Ensure delivery milestones and KPIs are achieved for contract projects
  • Undertake PM/PD roles based on project risk and technical needs
  • Drive innovation, social value, and continuous improvement in contract delivery
  • Support professional development of team members and partners

Key requirements

  • Experience delivering technical Local Government services
  • Experience leading high-performing teams with influence and motivation
  • Knowledge and experience of NEC4 contracts
