Overview

As an Associate in the Roads team, you will lead delivery across highway projects and programmes, guiding multi-disciplinary teams from early career to senior professionals. You’ll manage budgets, schedules and technical standards while building trusted client relationships and shaping engineering solutions. Your leadership will drive project success, safety, and compliance across transport infrastructure. This role offers exposure to diverse projects, collaboration across the UK Roads group, and opportunities to influence the regional and national programme portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engineering solutions for projects or work packages of varying scale and stages, potentially across multiple projects
  • Act as Project and/or Technical Delivery Lead for complex projects or a portfolio of smaller ones
  • Manage project budget, schedule, financial performance, technical standards and legal requirements
  • Develop strong client relationships, manage expectations, and provide comprehensive advisory support
  • Collaborate within the UK Roads discipline and with the wider Transport and Infrastructure teams
  • Lead and motivate team members to contribute to project and team goals; line management for suitable candidates
  • Ensure Health & Safety, Environmental compliance and quality assurance
  • Coordinate resources, set up local and national teams, and place people in appropriate roles
  • Support the Wales & Southwest Regional Director and leadership with business strategies and initiatives

Key requirements

  • CEng or IEng with post professional qualification experience
  • Wide-ranging highway infrastructure engineering and design experience across project life cycles
  • Broad knowledge of design standards and codes of best practice
  • Ability to inspire and improve others to achieve excellence
  • Commercial and risk management and resolution
  • Experience checking and approving reports and designs for transport studies or construction projects
  • Ability to win new work
