Overview
In this role you will provide technical leadership for bridge and civil design and assessment projects, coordinating multi-disciplinary inputs and mentoring junior staff. You’ll manage resources, fees, and project delivery across UK and overseas assignments, while building client relationships and leading tenders. You will drive a culture of technical review, innovation, and collaboration within a large, global engineering team. Responsibilities
- Technical leadership of bridge/civil design and assessment projects (UK and overseas)
- Lead project reviews to optimise solutions and coordinate multi-disciplinary inputs
- Resource management and cross-team coordination
- Agreeing project fees and managing commercial position
- Foster a culture of technical review and challenge
- Develop client relationships and lead tenders/bids
- Supervision and mentoring of junior team members
Key requirements
- Chartered Civil Engineer or Chartered Structural Engineer
- Experience in bridge design, maintenance and assessment (site and design office)
- Project management experience on bridge projects
- Knowledge of design, maintenance and supervision of structures (new builds, maintenance, assessment, strengthening)
- Familiarity with DMRB and MCDHW in relation to structural schemes
- Understanding and application of Eurocodes to bridge design
- Experience with steel, reinforced and prestressed concrete bridge structures
- Experience with grillage, space frame and finite element software (LUSAS, Superstress, SAM)
- Strong communication, client handling and interpersonal skills
