In this role you will provide technical and operational leadership on a portfolio of geotechnical and multidisciplinary projects, delivering high-quality, commercially successful outcomes. You will act as a senior technical authority for ground models, geotechnical assessments and design solutions, while guiding project performance, client relationships and business development. You’ll lead bids, mentor engineers, and collaborate across disciplines to unlock integrated solutions. Responsibilities
- Provide technical and operational leadership across geotechnical projects to ensure quality and commercial success
- Act as senior technical authority for ground models, assessments, and design deliverables
- Direct and review advanced geotechnical analysis for foundations, earthworks, slopes, tunnels and related assets
- Manage project performance including programme, budget, resources, quality, risk and contracts
- Develop trusted client relationships and identify opportunities to expand services
- Lead bids and proposals with technical approaches, delivery plans and fee submissions
- Provide leadership, coaching and mentorship to engineers and geologists
- Collaborate with senior leaders on strategy, workload planning and growth of the geotechnical business
- Build cross-disciplinary relationships to deliver integrated client solutions
- Champion technical excellence, innovation, sustainability, HSE, and digital/3D data usage in delivery
Key requirements
- Substantial technical background in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology and ground risk management
- Strong expertise in geotechnical interpretation, analysis and design; ability to review and approve outputs
- Proven track record leading projects and multidisciplinary teams, with oversight of scope, programme, resources, quality and risk
- Strong commercial awareness; experience with proposals, project finances and business development
- Excellent client and stakeholder management with senior-representative capabilities
- Experience providing technical and managerial leadership, mentoring and workload management
- Ability to identify market opportunities and contribute to strategic planning and growth
- Collaborative, influential leadership across disciplines, locations and sectors
- Chartered status with ICE or Geological Society, or equivalent recognised qualification
