Overview
As Senior Leader in WSP’s Engagement and Consultation Service Line, you will steer engagement delivery for major UK infrastructure projects. You’ll shape regional delivery models, lead distributed teams, and nurture strategic client relationships to elevate community connection and best practice. You’ll work across water, transport, energy and environmental sectors, integrating engagement into project delivery while ensuring compliant, high-quality stakeholder outputs. This role offers influence over pivotal projects and the opportunity to scale engagement across the North, with a strong focus on leadership and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Lead regional team of engagement experts and manage new and existing projects
- Advise project teams on engagement and consultation strategies for complex infrastructure
- Ensure compliance with planning legislation, including DCO requirements and the Planning and Infrastructure Act 2025
- Embed global best practice in communications and engagement
- Plan and deliver stakeholder communications and consultations, including risk management and public events
- Provide leadership across projects, collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, and develop engagement capability
- Drive delivery, resourcing, budgets, and risks for major infrastructure projects; support business development and tender activity
- Mentor and develop engagement specialists; maintain regular presence in the Manchester office
Key requirements
- Proven experience leading consultation and engagement on large, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects
- Degree qualified or equivalent relevant professional experience
- Membership of a relevant professional or trade body (desirable)
- Experience across road, rail, utilities, water, environment or energy sectors
- Collaborative leadership
- Ability to build and sustain stakeholder relationships in high-profile environments
- Decisive with strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Stakeholder engagement and consultation strategy
- Project delivery and governance for infrastructure projects
