WSP’s Local Government teams play a vital role in supporting councils and communities across the UK, delivering essential highways, structures, transport and infrastructure services. As our commissions continue to grow, we are welcoming expressions of interest from talented professionals who want to make a meaningful impact in local places.

We have long-term partnerships with Local Authorities nationwide, providing design, advisory and delivery support across a wide range of infrastructure programmes. Our current Local Government Commissions include:

  • South West England
  • Gloucestershire
  • Rhondda Cynon Taf, Merthyr Tydfil and Bridgend County Councils
  • Shropshire
  • Norfolk
  • East Sussex
  • Yorkshire
  • Lincolnshire

These partnerships involve long-standing client relationships, embedded teams, and a wide range of design, inspection, and project delivery responsibilities across highways and structures networks.

Our commissions typically support Local Authorities with:

  • Highways design, maintenance and improvement schemes
  • Bridge and structural engineering services
  • Bridge inspections, assessments and asset management
  • Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) development, coordination and delivery
  • Programme and project management of infrastructure portfolios
  • Road safety, drainage, public realm and adjacent technical disciplines
  • Providing resilience, specialist advice and governance assurance on essential public services
