This is a UK Wide role based in any of our UK offices. You will be joining our expanding Buildings Technology Services team, as an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Engineer, with accountability for the ICT design, project management and delivery of projects from inception through to handover to the client.
At WSP, our Building Technology Systems (BTS) team provide Smart, ICT, Audio Visual & System Integration design. We are looking for a Principal ICT Engineer to join the UK Building Technology Systems team with a significant background in IT Network Design. You will be designing IT networks within buildings, alongside multiple design disciplines, implementing leading edge network designs and technologies into real world applications.
You will liaise with clients and stakeholders to understand, develop, and interpret their requirements from concept stage through to detailed design, on multi-disciplinary design projects in coordination with Architects, Engineers, and specialist consultants. Collaborate across WSP with specialists in areas like MEP, Smart, AV to develop holistic and comprehensive solutions. Create future-ready buildings with the ICT foundation to deliver great user experiences, innovating the building landscape.
Your Team: We work on a variety of projects, helping clients to navigate and embrace emerging technologies. We work closely with building owners, tenants, and developers from around the world on large, complex projects with a focus on user experience, operational efficiency, and sustainability. Our UK Building Services Team is delivering projects ranging from High Rise Towers such as 22 Bishopsgate and 40 Leadenhall, to hyper scale Data Centres, to Stadia such as Fulham Football Club to transformative Healthcare projects such as the Monklands Hospital digital twin.
As leaders in Building Technology consultancy, our aim is to set the standard for providing specialist ICT and Smart Consulting to clients across the built environment.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate:
- A passion for the future of technology in the built environment.
- Experience in ICT design and project delivery of medium to large building projects.
- Ability to produce detailed design and performance specification, subject to review by colleagues prior to issue.
- Ability to carry out feasibility studies for review by colleagues prior to issue.
- Experience in producing detailed equipment schedules for issue with the discipline specific designs.
- Experience providing design and technical advice on projects lead by seniors or take a discipline lead role on smaller projects.
- Ability to create and interpret technical documents including reports, diagrams, drawings and specifications.
- Ability to work independently using their own initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of their discipline or have specific specialist experience applicable to the role.
- Ability to work under the clear direction of others and interpret the needs of a project where applicable to the discipline.
- Be able to effectively communicate complex technical information and non-technical information to clients both inside and outside the business.
- An understanding of specialist building systems including MEP, BMS, fire safety, lighting and security systems, the smart building technology aspects of deploying modern smart buildings.
- CIBSE / IET / Engineering Council accredited honours degree or specific experience that will lead to Chartership.
- RevitMEP training applied to the discipline.
- Any accredited network qualification (such as Cisco certified accreditations or RCDD).
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK and must be capable of achieving SC-level UK security clearance.
