A little more about your role... We are looking to appoint a Structural Engineer into our WSP Local Government team in East Sussex. The role is based from our Lewes office, with hybrid working allowing for a mix of home and inâoffice working.
You will be joining our Highways Structures team â a team that has an inâdepth knowledge and understanding of the wide variety of structures across the county of East Sussex. You will have a key role in supporting our Local Authority client maintain and enhance their highway structures. Our client has a varied bridge stock and has an extensive programme of design, assessment and inspection schemes to provide a fastâpaced and varied workload.

We have a strong track record of working closely with our clients and this role provides a great opportunity to develop your career within a growing multidisciplinary team.
The type of work you will undertake will be varied but will include:
- Designing new and replacement bridges and retaining walls, as well as inspecting, assessing, repairing and strengthening existing structures, ranging from masonry arches and stonework retaining walls to modern moving structures.
- Taking projects through their entire life cycle, from inception to construction.
- Deliver work packages with scope to move up to managing smaller schemes.
- Coordinate and communicate with multiâdisciplinary supporting teams.
- Undertake site work for construction supervision, surveys, and inspections.
- Support development of Early Careers Professionals.

- Experience of Eurocodes or sectorâspecific codes and standards (e.g. Network Rail standards, DMRB).

- Working towards Incorporated or Chartered status with a professional institution.
- A civil engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
