A little more about your role… We’re looking for a Regional Director to lead our Local Government team in Wales. This is a strategic role with responsibility for driving client satisfaction, team performance, and business growth within the region. The role is based in Cardiff with WSP’s hybrid working policy allowing for a mix of in-office and home working.
As Regional Director you will have overall accountability for WSP-wide performance of our contracts in the region, specifically our contracts with Rhondda Cynon Taf, Merthyr Tydfil and Bridgend Councils. Acting as a trusted partner to local authorities, you will undertake Key Client Lead or Sponsor roles, and be responsible for leadership of clients, people, projects, and business performance in their region. Your role will require you to embed a strong client focus and people culture around delivering technically excellent solutions to our clients, balanced with the need to satisfy our commercial expectations.
As the successful delivery of our contracts relies on collaboration from the wider business as well, you will need to collaborate and build positive relationships across WSP. This role will require you to maintain a strong local presence across the region, typically 3 days per week either in our offices or our clients' offices.
The Regional Director role is a varied one, with key responsibilities including:
- Build a culture within the region, aligned to our WSP values through effective cross business working with transparent and open communication
- Build strong client relationships and act as Key Client Lead or Sponsor where required
- Drive operational excellence, ensuring contracts perform to key financial metrics
- Ensure best practice relating to project reviews (technical and commercial)
- Ensure an effective organisational structure in the region, including succession planning
- Build positive relationships across the wider WSP to ensure successful multi-disciplinary collaboration
- Champion health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives across the region.
- Provide support into the Strategic Pursuits team when bidding for contracts within the region
- Lead recruitment needs to meet client, project and budget targets/demands
- Ensure effective governance, risk management, and compliance with quality standards.
