The General Manager is responsible for the overall success and smooth operation of The Boxford. This includes strategic leadership, financial performance, operational excellence, guest satisfaction, and team development. The GM will ensure the business operates efficiently while delivering a consistently outstanding guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management
- Inspire, mentor, and develop the management team, including Assistant Managers and supervisors.
- Build a high-performing team culture focused on collaboration, efficiency, and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing performance management, including regular appraisals and development plans.
- Foster open communication and ensure team members are empowered to solve challenges effectively.
Operations Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring seamless service across front-of-house, kitchen, and events.
- Manage staffing levels to meet business needs, optimizing labour costs while maintaining service excellence.
- Ensure compliance with operational standards, health and safety regulations, and food hygiene requirements.
- Regularly inspect the property, ensuring facilities, equipment, and furnishings are in excellent condition.
Guest Experience
- Champion a guest-centric culture, ensuring every visitor receives a memorable experience.
- Monitor and respond to guest feedback, using insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Set service and hospitality standards in collaboration with the management team.
- Develop strategies to address and resolve complaints promptly and effectively.
Financial and Strategic Planning
- Drive profitability by managing costs, including food, beverage, consumables, utilities, and labour.
- Monitor financial performance and create action plans to meet or exceed budgetary goals.
- Oversee inventory management and procurement, ensuring cost-effective and timely ordering.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to promote the restaurant and maximize revenue opportunities, including events.
Events and Marketing Support
- Support the planning and execution of events and seasonal promotions.
- Provide input on marketing campaigns to ensure alignment with The Boxford’s brand identity.
- Act as a brand ambassador, building relationships with local communities and stakeholders.
Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure full compliance with company policies, licensing regulations, and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records, including financial reports, payroll, and personnel documentation.
