Please note that this is a national role and will involve regular travel across our education sites, predominantly throughout the Midlands, and Northern regions. We are ideally seeking someone based with good access to major motorway and transport links to support travel across the wider business.
This position is offered as a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract, with an ideal start date of mid-August 2026.

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Food, Health & Safety Manager to lead and oversee compliance, safety, and quality standards across our prestigious independent school catering operations. In this pivotal role, you will ensure that every site consistently meets the highest standards of food safety, workplace health and safety, and environmental practices, while supporting our teams to deliver exceptional dining experiences.

Job Description:
- Proactively investigate LTI and RIDDOR incidents to reduce injury rates year-on-year.
- Promote and embed a zero-accident culture across the organisation.
- Investigate allergy incidents and near misses to identify causes and prevent reoccurrence.
- Monitor and review safety performance and audit data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Support managers at all levels to achieve and maintain 5-Star Housekeeping standards.
- Partner with Operations Managers and Location Managers to prevent allergy-related incidents.
- Conduct regular site visits, meetings, and presentations with operations teams and school locations.
- Monitor Navitas audits and analyse accident/incident data for continuous improvement.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust health and safety policies across all catering operations.
- Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health and safety regulations, and risk management standards.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on safety procedures and best practices.
- Travel regularly to independent school sites to conduct audits and support operational teams.
Qualifications:
We’re looking for a confident and approachable professional who can build positive relationships with clients, teams, and our operators while maintaining the highest standards in health, safety, and food compliance. You’ll combine strong technical expertise with the ability to communicate effectively and inspire best practice across the business.
- Proven experience in a Food, Health & Safety managerial position.
- Methodical approach with a strong eye for detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and build rapport at all levels.
- Strong communication skills- written, verbal, and presentation.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ideally, experienced within hospitality, leisure, preferably contract catering.
- Experience of working in a food safety role.
- NEBOSH General Certificate.
- Level 4 Food Safety.
- Strong understanding of health & safety risks within a catering/education environment.
- Practical knowledge and experience in an operational setting.
