Greenmeadow Community Farm has been open for 8 successful months and is fast becoming a popular, family-focused destination. We’re looking for a reliable, enthusiastic Weekend Chef to support our kitchen team during our busiest trading days, helping deliver a high-quality food experience across our diverse operation. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established and growing kitchen team in a unique, vibrant setting.

Role Description

You’ll support a busy, multi-outlet food operation, including a welcoming Farmshop with local produce and artisan goods, a fast-paced Barista Coffee Bar, family-friendly Concessions across the site, and a wide range of Events & Hospitality, including weddings, school visits, and seasonal celebrations. Weekends are our busiest time—your contribution will have the biggest impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Head Chef in delivering the culinary vision across the Farmshop, Café Restaurant, Barista Coffee Bar, Playbarn Café, Concessions, and Events & Hospitality spaces
  • Supervising and mentoring kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and hygiene are maintained at all times
  • Managing daily kitchen operations, including food prep, stock rotation, allergen control, and assisting with supplier coordination
  • Working closely with front-of-house and events teams to ensure smooth service for school visits, weddings, seasonal events, and private functions
  • Maintaining consistency and efficiency across a logistically varied site, ensuring timely and high-quality food delivery
  • Upholding food safety and hygiene standards, including compliance with HACCP procedures
  • Contributing to menu development, bringing creativity and seasonal inspiration to the table
  • Driving continuous improvement, offering ideas and feedback to enhance the food offering and kitchen operations

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chef, Commis Chef, or Chef de Partie in a busy, quality-focused kitchen
  • A passion for fresh, well-prepared food
  • Reliable, organised, and a strong team player
  • Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, and allergen control
  • Positive attitude with a hands‑on, can‑do approach
  • Must be available to work weekends consistently (24 hours per week)
  • Financial awareness, with experience in food cost control, GP targets, stock management, and supplier coordination
  • Excellent coaching and delegation skills, leading by example and supporting the Head Chef in developing the team
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure, especially during peak service
  • Strong menu execution, planning, and problem‑solving abilities
  • Effective communicator with a collaborative, solution-focused mindset
  • Enjoy working in a fun, family-focused environment with a unique, nature-rich setting

  • Able to work 5 out of 7 days, including weekends and evenings as required by the operation
