We have a full-time, permanent opportunity for an experienced HGV & Plant Technician to join our dynamic Industrial Services division at our Immingham depot.

As an HGV & Plant Technician, you will conduct general workshop duties on our HGV vehicles and ancillary equipment. Ideally, applicants will have experience in the maintenance of site plant equipment and vehicle plant, along with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving. This is an essential role for the business, ensuring our vehicles and plant equipment are available and safe for use at all times.

Reporting directly to the Transport Manager, the Mechanical Fitter role requires the successful candidate to be able to:

  1. Fault-find, troubleshoot, and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using appropriate tools and techniques on plant machinery and vehicles.
  2. Maintain all vehicles to the current MOT standards and keep all documentation and vehicle records updated.
  3. Service all plant to ensure it is working to quality industrial standards.
  4. Carry out mechanical repairs and improvements, and electrical repairs where possible.
  5. Work with and assist the Transport Manager.
  6. Maintain a clean and safe working environment in the workshop.
  7. Comply with Health and Safety requirements, following company policies, procedures, risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.

The role is Monday to Friday (38 hours per week) with paid overtime to meet business needs. A positive approach is required towards weekend working and call-outs (paid accordingly).

Training and support will be provided, but knowledge, experience, and understanding of the following would be beneficial:

  1. A recognised engineering background with either Industrial Services, Heavy Plant, Light Commercial, HGV, or the Transport Industry.
  2. Knowledge of working with Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Pumps, and High-Pressure Water Jetting Equipment.
  3. Knowledge of relevant transport and plant codes of practice.
  4. A pro-active and creative approach to problem-solving.
  5. Suitable qualifications and experience relevant to the role, along with a willingness to learn.
