The Science department is well‑established, highly effective and successful, aiming to instil a lifelong love of scientific process and learning in students. We teach science as a core subject throughout the school and offer combined and individual science pathways at KS4 and KS5.

We welcome applications from science specialists who demonstrate high levels of creativity, innovation, emotional intelligence, self‑motivation and a willingness to take measured risks to deliver an exciting and engaging curriculum that develops high levels of scientific knowledge and application. Our students make excellent progress and are well‑behaved as recognised in Ofsted reports, which also state that the school works at an outstanding level and regularly receives high praise and support from parents.

We are proud to have a committed and stable staff team, highly regarded by students and parents. We set high expectations for students, teachers and leaders, while supporting strong progression routes for middle and senior leaders and maintaining a low staff turnover. We work closely with teachers to ensure that unnecessary paperwork and admin are kept to a minimum, and that a healthy and productive work‑life balance is maintained.

We offer an innovative programme of action‑based professional development opportunities, including a 2‑week October half‑term, which has been well received by students, parents and staff.
