Cloud Governance Officer - Azure Transformation
What you’ll do:
- You’ll be the bridge between cloud transformation and regulatory reality, ensuring every cloud design decision accounts for the legal sector's complex regulatory landscape.
- Learning the client’s existing governance and regulatory frameworks, then translating these into cloud‑specific policies, controls and considerations.
- Identifying regulatory requirements that impact cloud architecture decisions (data residency, sovereignty, handling restrictions across jurisdictions).
- Reviewing cloud templates, standards, and design patterns to flag governance or regulatory risks before they’re implemented.
- Aligning cloud ways of working with legal‑sector obligations—particularly around client confidentiality and cross‑border data flows.
- Creating governance documentation that makes regulatory requirements clear and actionable for technical teams.
- Working alongside cloud solution designers to build governance into the design, not bolt it on afterwards.
What we need:
- Understanding of regulatory and governance requirements in professional services or highly regulated sectors (legal industry experience strongly preferred).
- Knowledge of data sovereignty and cross‑jurisdictional compliance challenges (experience with Australian data handling laws preferred).
- Ability to translate regulatory language into practical technical guardrails.
- Experience working across risk, governance, and technology teams.
- Strong stakeholder management—you’ll be the voice of “what we must consider” without being a blocker.
Nice to have:
- Azure governance tooling knowledge (Policy, Blueprints), experience with federated governance models.
Why this role:
You’ll shape how a global law firm balances innovation with obligation. Critical thinking, real influence, proper governance done properly.
