Purpose of Post: We are looking for a hands-on and detail-oriented Robotic Welding Technician to support the setup, operation, and maintenance of robotic welding systems within our fabrication facility. This role will assist in the implementation of new robotic welding equipment, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure consistent quality and uptime of automated welding operations. Key Tasks: Responsibilities: Assist with the installation, setup, and commissioning of new robotic welding cells. Support the programming and adjustment of robotic welding paths, parameters, and sequences under the direction of engineering staff. Perform daily inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic repairs on robotic welding equipment. Collaborate with welders, engineers, and operators to ensure proper fixture loading, part positioning, and weld quality. Troubleshoot robotic and welding issues including arc stability, torch alignment, wire feed, and sensor feedback. Help implement continuous improvement initiatives related to robotic cell efficiency, cycle times, and uptime. Maintain detailed records of maintenance, program changes, and operational performance. Assist in training operators and maintenance staff on safe and effective use of robotic welding systems. Ensure all work complies with safety procedures, quality standards, and production goals. Communicate effectively with engineering, quality, and production teams to support smooth integration and operation of automation. Essential Criteria: Minimum of HNC/HND or equivalent in an Engineering discipline with a minimum of 3 years\’ relevant experience. Experience with robot programming and welding automation integration. Strong understanding of fixture design, weld symbols, and interpretation of engineering drawings. Familiarity with welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and resistance welding. Knowledge of fabrication processes and lean manufacturing principles. Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to work under pressure. Ability to work on own initiative.
