Purpose of Post: We are seeking a skilled and innovative Robotic Welding Engineer to lead the implementation and optimization of robotic welding systems within our fabrication facility. This role focuses on evaluating current welding operations, identifying automation opportunities, and executing the successful integration of robotic welding equipment to enhance quality, consistency, and throughput. Key Tasks: Responsibilities: Lead the planning and implementation of robotic welding systems into existing and new fabrication lines. Evaluate current manual welding processes to identify areas suitable for automation. Work cross-functionally with design, production, and quality teams to ensure seamless integration of robotic systems. Develop and optimize robotic welding programs, including path planning, parameter tuning, and cycle time improvements. Select appropriate robotic welding equipment and collaborate with vendors and integrators to install and commission new systems. Design or support the design of custom jigs, fixtures, and tooling required for robotic welding applications. Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards. Train operators and maintenance staff on robotic equipment operation, basic troubleshooting, and safety protocols. Monitor and analyse performance data to ensure equipment uptime, weld quality, and continuous improvement. Keep up to date with industry advancements and recommend upgrades or changes to maintain competitiveness Essential Criteria: Minimum of HNC/HND or equivalent in an Engineering discipline with a minimum of 3 years\’ relevant experience. Experience with robot programming and welding automation integration. Strong understanding of fixture design, weld symbols, and interpretation of engineering drawings. Familiarity with welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and resistance welding. Knowledge of fabrication processes and lean manufacturing principles. Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to work under pressure. Ability to work on own initiative. Able to work overtime if required. Ability to be flexible and adaptable as the role may involve working at various locations from time to time.
