Job Summary: Wrightbus is a fast-moving company with significant growth over the past year. We are seeking an Industrial Engineer to develop and optimise manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling to improve safety, quality, throughput, and cost-effectiveness. The role will define, validate, and enhance manufacturing capabilities while introducing innovative technologies, materials, and practices to drive efficiency, profitability, and sustainability.
The Role:
- Waste Elimination: Analyse production systems to identify inefficiencies and develop strategies to eliminate waste and reduce costs.
- Lean Implementation: Support operational teams in deploying lean tools and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and support functions.
- Design Integration: Coordinate new product designs from concept to full-scale production, ensuring manufacturability and smooth integration.
- Design for Manufacture: Lead efforts to resolve manufacturing issues by maintaining and acting on product-based Manufacturing issue logs.
- New Product Introduction (NPI): Manage the internal flow and setup of new product lines, assessing impacts on manpower, materials, equipment, and layout.
- Facility Layouts: Design and optimise workshop layouts to maximize space utilization, workflow efficiency, and safety.
- Daily Production Support: Provide hands-on problem-solving and technical support to resolve production challenges.
- Documentation: Capture critical build information during development and production builds. Develop Standard Work Instructions and Element Sheets to ensure consistent, repeatable, and efficient execution of tasks across production teams.
- Tooling Development: Design and oversee the creation of jigs, fixtures, templates, and tooling to support efficient manufacturing.
- Process Safety & Quality: Ensure all manufacturing processes meet safety standards and are capable of delivering consistent quality.
- Workflow Optimisation: Develop and sustain seamless workflows that support scalable and flexible manufacturing operations.
- Material Allocation & Routing: Define and optimise material flow strategies, including material allocation and material routing to support production efficiency.
- Lineside Presentation: Design and implement effective lineside presentation of materials to ensure ergonomic access, minimize handling, and support lean principles.
Requirement:
- Third Level Qualification in Industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or relevant subject.
- 5 years relevant experience.
- Experience in a Manufacturing environment.
- Experience in problem solving techniques on a production line.
- Experience in leading projects.
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and Excel.
- 3D Modelling Experience.
- Sage OR IFS Experience (MRP).
- Understanding of engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Process Optimisation experience.
