The Job Summary: Wrightbus, a fast-moving company that has experienced significant growth over the past year, is seeking a Head of Quality and Systems to lead the design, implementation, and management of its ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
The Role:
- Strategy and Development
- Responsibility for Quality activities across the business, including monitoring and reporting on KPIs to ensure projects are delivered on cost, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
- Drive continuous improvement through developing and progressing quality systems and operational processes.
- Develop and implement technical improvement strategies in response to non-conformances raised through audits and customer complaints.
- Lead and manage the quality function from new product conception through to warranty analysis.
- Drive culture change and business performance improvement to deliver strategic goals.
- Quality Assurance Functions
- Lead internal ISO 9001 QMS audits and participate in external and third-party audits.
- Plan and lead 3rd party ISO and COP audits.
- Update, revise, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) and associated procedures.
- Build and maintain relationships with external auditors to ensure effective implementation of quality systems, processes, methods, and tools.
- Lead quality objectives and support new customer contracts and NPI projects.
- Quality Control
- Investigate and resolve non-conformances, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Communicate quality matters effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Incorporate lessons learnt into new customer contracts and quality documentation.
- Train others in quality systems and procedures.
- Undertake internal audits, maintain records, analyse quality trends, and report against agreed quality metrics.
- Risk Management
- Monitor and review internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory, legislative, and best practice requirements.
- Implement and maintain risk management, assurance, and business continuity frameworks.
- Risk assess compliance, quality, and legality requirements, introducing process improvements and training where required.
- Investigate customer complaints and establish effective corrective and preventative actions to prevent recurrence.
The Requirements:
- Third level qualification in Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent)
- Minimum of two years' complex/escalated complaints handling experience with performance management and/or quality assurance experience
- Experience of leading a quality team
- Significant experience of operating within ISO Quality Management Systems
- Experience of implementing or creation of quality management system (QMS)
- Extensive knowledge and experience of manufacturing, engineering, and Quality Management Systems
- Proven track record of people management, working with staff, customers, and suppliers
- Ability to lead, manage, monitor, and present progress reports through quality management systems and reporting of KPI's
- Practical experience and demonstrable knowledge of third-party auditing and compliance with relevant certification and accreditation standards
- Proven experience of working in a similar leadership role
- Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers
