Welding Inspector Location: Pershore

Hours: Full time, 39 hours per week

  • Monday - Thursday: 07:45am - 5:00pm
  • Friday: 07:45am - 1:00pm

Salary: Β£18.00 - Β£20.00 per hour

What you'll get:

We are seeking an experienced Welding Inspector who will be responsible for ensuring that all welding and fabrication activities comply with customer specifications, defence industry standards, applicable codes, and company quality management systems. The role supports the manufacture of high-integrity fabricated products by carrying out inspections throughout production and maintaining complete quality records. Safety must always be a prime consideration, and you are required to ensure that the safety of people, the environment and our products are never compromised.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To process Welding Inspection first-off of components in an efficient manner, to verify products meet with approved design data, and quality control requirements
  • Inspect welding and fabrication activities in accordance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), standards, and customer requirements
  • Verify welder qualifications and ensure only approved welding procedures are used
  • Conduct visual inspections before, during and after welding operations
  • Exercise the highest degree of discretion and professionalism when dealing with sensitive data and information
  • Ensure traceability of materials, consumables and inspection records
  • Complete inspection reports including FAI reports and quality documentation accurately and efficiently
  • Participate in first article inspections and customer witness inspections
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Liaise with Quality supervision to raise non-conformance reports for products that do not conform to specification, and assist with subsequent Root Cause analysis
  • Report on process and system data, maintaining Visual Management Boards with updated information
  • Coordinate and assist with preparation of systems documentation necessary to meet with the requirements of statutory and regulatory bodies, including applicable versions of ISO 9001, ISO 3834, EN 15085, and DIN 2303 (Others as applicable)
  • Liaise with production personnel to resolve welding and quality issues
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve manufacturing quality
  • Ensure all welding equipment is maintained in line with the calibration system requirements
  • Assist management in maintaining production output to match customer's requirements
  • Contribute with identifying methods to improve the smooth operation of the business
  • Promote awareness and use of the Business Management System(s), identifying opportunities for training and up-skilling
  • Raise and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and verify corrective actions

Qualifications:

  • CSWIP - National Accreditation 3.1 (essential)
  • CSWIP - National Accreditation 3.2 (desirable)
  • PCN Level III

Essential Experience:

  • Proven experience, within a metal fabrication and assembly environment on aluminium, steel, and stainless steel.
  • Current experience of working with international regulatory standard; ISO 9001
  • Proven experience holding a similar position with relevant industries, and engineering environment(s)
  • Current experience working to ISO 5817, and ISO 10042
  • Proficient with MS Office suite
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge of health & safety and environmental practices and procedures

Desirable:

  • Current experience of working with international regulatory standards; ISO 9001, ISO 3834, and EN 15085, DIN 2303, or equivalent
  • NDT inspection
  • Internal Auditor Trained
  • IOSH
