We are looking to recruit a Probate Administrator to support the senior team with Tax and accounts services for estates and beneficiaries.

The role will suit an ambitious professional, eager to develop their skills in the estate and probate sector.

You will work on a number of client probate services, including inheritance tax, estate management, accounts and beneficiary statements.

  • Prepare applications for Grants of Representation from start to completion
  • Deal with the administration of Estate from start to completion
  • Prepare Estate Accounts and IHT returns and submissions
  • Ensure the execution of matters comply with internal policies and procedures to minimise breaches, claims and client dissatisfaction
  • Ensure compliance with SRA standards to safeguard our clients and support in maintaining its Practice Management standards and accreditations
  • Ensure clients receive accurate, up-to-date legal advice that takes account of their circumstances and represents "value for money”
  • Maintain the integrity of data in key platforms such as Worksite and Liberate by ensuring that they are updated in a timely manner
  • Develop responsibility for running own caseload and ensure critical dates are met
  • Assist senior lawyers with complex matters
  • Undertake legal research both as requested and on own initiative
  • Ensure that own development and objectives are updated in line with our practices and policies
  • Ensure CPD/self-development is maintained
  • All new instructions to be appropriately scoped and priced to achieve target gross margin and signed off by the appropriate manager
  • Ensure time is recorded and posted on a daily basis
  • Achieve personal financial, utilisation and realisation targets

About you

  • Experience working as a Probate Executive for a law firm - Ideally 5 years+ experience
  • Good understanding of inheritance tax, computations and the probate process, and experience of using My HMCTS for online probate applications.
  • Excellent client care and client support skills
  • Excellent communication skills are essential alongside strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines, to prioritise and manage a varied caseload
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and on your own initiative
  • High standard of verbal and numerical reasoning
  • Ability to analyse, evaluate and communicate information logically
  • Professional and effective communication with team members and contacts
