Probate Executive

Leamington Spa/Hybrid working

We are seeking a Probate Administrator/Executive to support the senior team with Tax and accounts services for estates and beneficiaries. The role will suit an ambitious professional, eager to develop their skills in the estate and probate sector. You will work on a number of client probate services, including inheritance tax, estate management, accounts and beneficiary statements.

Key Duties:

  • Drafting inheritance tax and probate application forms, and preparing inheritance tax calculations for manager and director review
  • Drafting covering emails and letters explaining the forms and processes to clients and setting out the inheritance tax payments and arrangements
  • Assisting with the estate administration process, including preparing letters and forms to close accounts and sell shares
  • Liaising with HMRC, HMCTS and third parties as required
  • Assisting with the preparation of trust and estate tax returns and beneficiary statements R185 for the administration period, and 60-day UK property CGT returns
  • Liaising with clients and third parties, and identifying and referring queries to partners, directors or managers.

About you:

  • Experience working as a Probate Executive for a law firm – Ideally 5 years+ experience
  • Good understanding of inheritance tax, computations and the probate process, and experience of using MyHMCTS for online probate applications.
  • Excellent client care and client support skills
  • Excellent communication skills are essential alongside strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines, to prioritise and manage a varied caseload
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and on your own initiative
  • High standard of verbal and numerical reasoning
  • Ability to analyse, evaluate and communicate information logically
  • Professional and effective communication with team members and contacts
