We are recruiting for a client of ours that has an opportunity for a full time Quarry Manager at their quarry site between Lincoln and Sleaford. The Role: The Quarry has a small team of two office-based staff (including weighbridge clerk), a Quarry Supervisor, three Quarry Operatives and one lorry driver. The Quarry Manager operates the Quarry largely autonomously. The Quarry Manager will be appointed under section 8.1(c) of the Quarries Regulations 1999, as a competent individual to take charge of the quarry, at all times, when persons are working in the quarry. Responsibilities: – Day to Day Quarry Management. – Producing the appropriate quantity and quality of product safely and cost effectively. – Ensure the mobile and fixed plant are available during working hours by arranging speedy and economic repairs when required. – Lead, motivate and train the workforce to achieve and maintain a high standard of Health & Safety. – Sourcing contracts for supplies to the Quarry at competitive rates. – Customer liaison. – Ensuring compliance with the Company’s Safety Policy, Quarries Regulations 1999 Act and the Health and Safety at Work Act. – Ensure compliance with all legislation, planning permissions and licences that relate to the Company’s site. – Ability to manage risks through their conduct and supporting risk assessments and operating practices. – Ensuring all staff are appropriately trained with training records maintained. – Aggregate levy reporting. – Waste Returns reporting. – Assisting the Finance Team with producing annual budgets. – Ensuring the appropriate signing and coding of all purchase invoices. – Ensuring all customers pay their invoices on time and keeping bad debts to a minimum. – Issuing to orders to suppliers and keeping records of spending whilst achieving cost budgets. – Attendance at regular Executive meeting with the Longwood Directors to report on the Quarry business. – Regular meetings with financial controller. Qualifications: – Degree, Diploma or NVQ SHE L4 in Quarry Operations, Mineral Engineering, Geology or a related field. – Experience in mobile plant operation – loading shovels, excavators, crushers and screens, – At least 5 years relevant operational experience. – A WAMITAB or similar qualification is also required
