The Finance Team provides all of the financial support to the University encompassing the budgeting, monitoring and reporting of all financial information, alongside the transactional services of payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
Role Overview: Reporting to the Head of Financial Planning and Reporting, we are looking for a suitably qualified candidate with proven business partnering experience and strong technical focus to play a pivotal role in managing the financial performance across three diverse subsidiary companies – the University’s science centre North Wales Science T/A Xplore! (NWS), Glyndwr Innovations Ltd (GIL) and Glyndwr Services Ltd (GSL).
Responsibilities:
- Ownership of month-end close, management accounts, and project-level analysis.
- Working closely with operational leaders to support decision‑making, pricing, and margin improvement.
- Support to each subsidiary including project accounting (both charity accounting and manufacturing/cost accounting), budget setting and monthly forecasting.
- Liaison with senior management and staff from each University subsidiary and other departments across Wrexham University.
- Providing technical advice, guidance and support on all management accounting matters to a variety of internal and external stakeholders and evaluating financial performance.
Qualifications:
- In‑depth knowledge of financial and management accounting processes and procedures with experience of cost/project accounting.
- Experience of charity accounting would also be advantageous.
- Previous working experience of accounting software packages and Microsoft Excel is an essential requirement.
- Established accountant/business partner moving into a more senior role with well‑developed technical, interpersonal and team working skills.
Additional Information: The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.
