Description

North East Wales Emergency Duty Team (NEWEDT) provides crisis intervention and support outside normal office hours. Sessional Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHPs) and Sessional Experienced Social Workers coordinate crisis interventions to achieve the best outcome for children and adults until daytime colleagues can take over. We work closely with Police, A&E, North Wales Ambulance Service and GPs, and take referrals from service users and carers. The AMHPs and Social Workers cover all areas and service user groups, including children and adults at risk, foster placement breakdowns, vulnerable adults in police custody, people experiencing crisis in their mental health, and older people who require services to keep them well and safe.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake and coordinate crisis interventions (AMHPs and Social Workers).
  • Collaborate with Police, A&E, North Wales Ambulance Service and GPs.
  • Cover all areas and service user groups including various at-risk populations.
  • Work as part of a team with EDT staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Provide support during out-of-hours periods and ensure smooth handover to daytime colleagues.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHP) or Experienced Social Worker (sessional).
  • Enthusiastic, imaginative and creative in problem solving.
  • Ability to work flexibly within a shift pattern across Flintshire, Wrexham and Denbighshire.
  • Desirable: AMHP qualification or experience in child protection.
  • Enhanced DBS check required.
  • Bilingual capability: English and Welsh considered; applications in Welsh treated equally.

Additional Information

Salary: AMHP £26.06-£27.71 per hour; Social Worker £21.65-£23.27 per hour. The shift pattern offers flexibility with four staff on duty at peak times and two at quieter times. Post subject to enhanced DBS. The Council welcomes applications from suitably qualified candidates regardless of race, gender, disability, sexuality, religious belief or age.
