SERV are delighted to be supporting Wrexham FC who are currently recruiting for a Commercial Director to oversee the the commercial function for the club.
This role will be responsible for all revenue-generating processes at the Club, focused on aligning and optimising partnerships and commercial sales, ticketing, retail and hospitality. This role is pivotal in leveraging the Club’s global brand ensuring
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Design and execute revenue strategies and processes.
- Oversee the commercial, ticketing, retail and F&B teams and ensure they meet performance goals.
- Negotiation and closing: Lead negotiations with prospective sponsors, demonstrating a strong understanding of industry trends, market dynamics and the value of the club\’s assets.
- Drive the sales process from initial contact to contract negotiation and deal closure.
- Account management: Develop strong relationships with sponsors to understand their evolving needs and identify opportunities for upselling and renewals.
- Revenue optimisation: Continuously seek opportunities to optimise sponsorship revenue streams through strategic pricing, upselling, cross-selling and leveraging additional club assets. Explore innovative revenue-generating initiatives to enhance Club performance.
- Budget, reporting and analysis: Accountable for setting an annual budget in conjunction with the finance department. Provide regular reports and analysis on sponsorship sales performance, revenue projections, market trends and competitor activities. Use data-driven insights to refine sales strategies and identify areas for growth and improvement.
- Work closely with marketing to ensure campaigns support revenue goals.
Experience/Qualifications Required
- Significant experience of working within a similar role.
- Proven track record of success in sponsorship sales (i.e. number of deals, height of deals etc.) within the sports industry, preferably in football or a related industry.
- Capable of closing commercial deals.
- Strong understanding of sponsorship principles, marketing strategies and brand activation.
- Strong understanding of the needs of organisations along the complete sales funnel.
- Proven contactable potential client list, both in the UK and global.
- Experience with stadium/stand naming rights.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to develop creative solutions and capitalise on market opportunities.
- Results-driven mindset with a focus on exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Excellent relationship building skills and the ability to foster long-term partnerships.
