We have an amazing opportunity within our HR Team for an individual looking to start a career in HR. The HR & Payroll Apprentice role offers a brilliant opportunity to start your career in people and payroll. You’ll support a wide range of HR and payroll activities – from preparing payroll for a growing business to supporting colleagues throughout the employee cycle. You will apply a keen eye for detail and a high level of discretion as part of a close-knit team that delivers smooth, high-quality HR services across the business.

You’ll work closely with the HR & Payroll Specialist and the Director of HR, gaining exposure to everything from recruitment and onboarding to benefits, systems and day-to-day people processes. This apprenticeship is delivered through an approved training provider, giving you structured learning alongside practical experience. You’ll attend workshops, complete assessed modules, and build a portfolio that demonstrates your growing capability in order to achieve your first CIPD qualification for a career within HR.

In complex markets that change frequently, we help our Corporate and Personal clients make the right financial choices through the provision of independent financial advice which is uniquely tailored to their specific needs. Wren Sterling specialises in all aspects of savings, investments, and retirement planning to individuals. Through successful partnerships with Building Societies, we deliver independent financial advice to their customers.

Include the following but not exclusive to:

  • Payroll Administration Support: Working closely with the HR & Payroll Specialist, assist with collation and input of monthly variable payroll data. Support payroll upload and changes. Prepare new starter and leaver data for payroll as instructed by the HR & Payroll Specialist. Accurate input for monthly pension upload for checking by the HR & Payroll Specialist.
  • HR Administration: Maintain accurate HR database records. Provide administration support including drafting letters for employees across the employee life cycle. Provide accurate Employee Relations meeting note-taking.
  • Recruitment Administration: Support adverts and interview administration. Provide interview and assessment support as directed by the HR Team. Prepare contracts, offer letters and Offer packs for approval and distribute via DocuSign. Assist on onboarding activities for new starters. Completion of other reasonable duties, as defined by the Senior Management Team.

Qualifications

  • 5 GCSEs passes or equivalent including English and Maths
  • Willingness to work toward CIPD Level 3 or relevant Payroll qualification via an apprenticeship programme
