Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and cloud-native tools.
- Implement data validation frameworks, automated testing, and monitoring using tools like Datadog or CloudWatch.
- Work closely with Business Intelligence, analytics teams, and business users to understand data needs and deliver reliable solutions.
- Maintain and improve the data lakeʼs performance, security, and cost-efficiency in platforms like Databricks or Snowflake.
- Ensure proper monitoring, alerting, and logging are in place to maintain uptime and data availability.
- Maintain clear documentation of data flows, transformations, and best practices. Contribute to knowledge-sharing and mentoring junior engineers.
- Follow industry standards for data governance, security, and CI/CD automation in data pipelines.
- Stay up to date with new tools and techniques in data engineering, contributing ideas to improve processes and system efficiency.
About You
- 4+ years’ experience designing, building, and maintaining production data platforms.
- Strong Python skills for data wrangling, pipeline orchestration, automation, and complex SQL/Python debugging, including AI-augmented development tools.
- Experience with modern data lakes/ETL platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or equivalent; strong knowledge of Databricks and evaluating new tools for adoption.
- Understanding of LLMs, RAG, and data engineering’s role in agentic workflows.
- Experience with data modelling, transformation, performance optimisation, quality, and consistency.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Datadog and CloudWatch, plus BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, attention to detail, and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, Jira, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including compute, storage, and serverless services.
