About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of an award‑winning Transport team, who have won numerous awards for Operational, Business and H&S excellence over the last two years. Due to the continued growth of the business we are looking to recruit an Assistant Transport Manager to join our depot in Bristol Avonmouth. You will be responsible for the supervision of the Transport Depot and cover the Transport Manager in their absence.
The role is a 40‑hour work week, Monday to Friday inclusive, with peak periods where hours may vary to 40 hours a week over 5 days, Monday to Sunday. Notice will be given prior to peak periods.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist the transport management team in the smooth running of the transport function
- Ensure all vehicles are maintained in line with legal requirements
- Assist Drivers with tasks in the Transport Yard when required
- Ensure Drivers are managed correctly to work within the driver\’s hours and working time regulations, using the company recognised processes to manage full compliance
- Thoroughly investigate any incidents, accidents and near misses when required
- Assist the training team with the addition of new drivers to the transport department
- Support the Transport Manager and training team with the recruitment of new drivers
- Be flexible to cover holidays and other adhoc duties

About You
- Managers CPC or willingness to work towards one
- HGV Class 1 experience desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of MTC Driving Hours
- Management experience and ability to train and motivate a team
- Excellent communication skills
- Microsoft Word and Excel experience
