Who are we?
WRAP is a global environmental action NGO championing the shift towards a circular economy, fundamentally reshaping how we produce, consume, and manage resources. Our vision is a world transformed, in which Circular Living is commonplace. Where the systems that provide our everyday goods contribute to the world's prosperity and sustainability instead of reducing it. WRAP is driving Circular Living through four key areas: accelerating the circular economy, future-proofing food, preventing problem packaging and transforming textiles. We catalyse action from policy makers, businesses, NGOs and citizens to make it happen. We have offices in the UK, USA and Australia, and live projects in over 30 countries. Join us at WRAP and you’ll drive important change to make Circular Living the norm.
The role
As our Chief Programmes Officer (CPO), you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping and delivering WRAP’s global programme portfolio. Sitting on the Executive Team and reporting directly to the CEO, you will provide strategic direction across all programme areas and all geographies — from resource management and circular economy initiatives to food system transformation, packaging, and textiles. WRAP has 25 years of experience designing and delivering environmental programmes that make a difference. It’ll be your job to build on this incredible legacy and reputation, and grow WRAP’s impact, ensuring that our programmes deliver impact across many more geographies globally, and that they deliver for the moment we are in now: accelerating progress on climate ambitions whilst also delivering on economic and social imperatives. Together we are creating a movement around Circular Living and our partnerships and programmes are at the heart of that.
As Chief Programmes Officer, you’ll lead the team to deliver impact, delight our partners and funders, and ensure that our programmes are rooted in a deep understanding of commercial, economic and social drivers, as well as the very best environmental evidence. A key focus of the role is managing WRAP’s dual delivery model, ensuring the quality, consistency, and impact of both our direct delivery work and the programmes we deliver through strategic partners. Pivotal to much of this is embedding behavioural insights into programme design and delivery (including WRAP’s Behaviour Change subsidiary). This is a highly influential role with the opportunity to shape WRAP’s long-term strategy, strengthen international programmes, and drive real, measurable environmental and societal outcomes at scale.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for an exceptional senior leader who can drive high-impact programmes, inspire teams and build strong partnerships across multiple countries and sectors. You will bring:
- Significant senior programme leadership experience delivering complex, multi-geography sustainability/circular-economy/environmental programmes (direct delivery + with partners).
- Expertise in at least one core WRAP programme area, such as food systems, packaging, textiles/fashion, behaviour change, or resource management (NetZero).
- Proven ability to build and influence relationships with government, business, philanthropy, and international partners.
- Strong strategic and operational leadership, with experience managing budgets, contracts, and large, global multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication, partnership-building, and convening skills, with credibility across diverse audiences.
- A passion for sustainability and impact, with a collaborative, inclusive leadership style, able to inspire teams and embed a culture of learning, innovation, and accountability.
