Who are we? WRAP is a global environmental action NGO transforming food, packaging, textiles and resource use systems in pursuit of circular living. WRAP are the people who do. We convene. We evidence. We solve. We deliver. For over 25 years, WRAP has innovated to meet the problems of the day. We prevent waste and pollution to save money, improve living standards and protect natural habitats. We reduce greenhouse gas emissions and water stress to strengthen resilience and help meet environmental goals. We improve resource use to increase productivity and grow. Across the world, we bring more than 1,000 businesses together with governments and civil society to tackle environmental challenges that require the collective action of many. Join us at WRAP and you'll drive important change to embed circular living in every boardroom and in every home.
The role: The global food system is responsible for around a third of greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs). If we are serious about climate action, this is where change must accelerate. At the same time, pressure on food businesses is intensifying. They are expected to cut supply chain emissions, manage climate risk and demonstrate credible progress. Investment decisions and supplier partnerships increasingly depend on having the right data: robust, trusted and decision ready. Yet without coordination, this effort risks creating more noise than clarity. Duplication, fragmentation and wasted resource across the supply chain help no one. The industry does not want more complexity. It needs aligned, standardised, trustworthy solutions that still allow the flexibility to work with the right partners. That is where WRAP comes in and where you could lead.
As our Senior Specialist (GHG) you will be one of WRAP’s lead experts within the Food Systems and GHG team, providing strategic and technical knowledge to inform the design and implementation of our GHG strategy and identify and pursue growth opportunities in the UK and globally. Our GHG Team plays a vital role, connecting government, industry and data innovators. Through the UK Food and Drinks Pact, we bring these actors together so businesses can move from data to confident action. Globally, we shape the data and how it flows. Trusted, open, accessible and comparable GHG data, compliant and aligned with key standards and reporting will enable a shift from measure and report to measure, report and reduce.
What are we looking for?
- Experience in shaping and steering strategy – will work closely with internal and external stakeholders including the Programme Lead(s) to identify strategic opportunities, develop solutions, design projects and develop growth plans to maximise GHG reductions.
- Experience in coordinating and delivering complex projects – bring together government, industry, academia and data innovators to build collective action projects that have real world impact. Ensuring GHG projects are delivered and result in the measurable impact towards GHG reductions.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills – building influential relationships across the supply chain, ensuring strategic needs are understood, prioritised and translated into deliverable plans and programmes. You will also act as a spokesperson and a key ambassador for the GHG programme delivering key messages internally and externally across all media as appropriate.
- Excellent people management – role model, coach and develop specialists in the GHG team, setting clear expectations, supporting performance and fostering a collaborative, strategic and delivery focused culture.
- Demonstrable experience and understanding of GHG accounting & reporting and applying this knowledge to identify opportunities and build projects with impact.
If you are motivated by impact, comfortable operating at the intersection of data, policy and industry, and ready to contribute at scale, we would love to hear from you.
