The Opportunity
We are looking for a detail-oriented Assistant Accountant with a positive attitude and a desire to develop their management accounts experience.
Based in our Shrewsbury office, you will work alongside experienced finance professionals and gain exposure to a broad range of financial processes while supporting the smooth running of the firm's internal finance function. This role offers an excellent opportunity to build your technical knowledge and develop valuable skills within a supportive and collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
- Process invoices accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure all purchasing policies and internal controls are adhered to.
- Respond to supplier queries and maintain positive working relationships.
- Ensure creditor balances are accurate, including monthly reconciliation of the creditor control account.
- Post monthly client disbursements into the practice management system.
- Prepare weekly supplier payment runs for authorisation.
- Process daily bank transactions, ensuring receipts and payments are accurately allocated to customer and supplier accounts.
- Raise client invoices for digital subscriptions, tax investigation services, and registered office services.
- Assist with the administration of subscription service starters and leavers, ensuring accurate client billing.
- Support the collection of outstanding debt.
- Process month-end journals.
- Monitor and ensure timesheets and expenses are approved in a timely manner.
- Assist with month-end checks to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts.
What We're Looking For
- AAT Level 4 qualified or studying towards (desirable).
- Previous experience in a finance or accounts role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
