Due to increased global growth in the business, our client is seeking a Full Time Road Freight Operator to be part of their Road Freight Team within the Manchester office. This position involves managing the daily operations of import and export accounts, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow across all activities.

Hours: Monday to Friday - 08:30 - 17:30

Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support daily operations and assist the Operations Supervisor in achieving departmental objectives
  • Manage import/export processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with procedures
  • Prepare quotations, create job files, and coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and overseas partners
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, including correct duty/VAT application and payment collection
  • Review and approve documentation and supplier invoices
  • Maintain strong customer and internal relationships, supporting audits and operational requirements
  • Assist with credit control and follow up on outstanding payments
  • Use and maintain internal systems, ensuring all data and reports are accurate and up to date
  • Communicate with sales teams, sharing leads and coordinating shipment handovers
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and support process improvements
  • Provide cover for colleagues and undertake overtime when required

Skills, Experience and Competencies:

  • At least 1 year of experience in a land freight or similar logistics role (road freight experience required)
  • Sponsorship is not on offer for this role
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritise workload independently while working effectively within a team
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in IT systems, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and CRM platforms
  • Solid administrative background with strong analytical ability and attention to detail
