Salary: Up to £30,000 DOE

My client is seeking an experienced Air Import Operator to join their growing freight forwarding business based in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and customer-focused individual with experience in international air freight imports to join a busy operations team.

You will be responsible for managing import shipments from arrival through to final delivery, ensuring all customs and operational requirements are completed accurately while delivering outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate international air import shipments from origin through to final delivery.
  • Liaise with overseas agents, airlines, customers, hauliers and customs authorities.
  • Arrange customs clearance and ensure all documentation is compliant.
  • Monitor shipment progress and provide proactive updates to customers.
  • Prepare and process import documentation including MAWBs, HAWBs and delivery orders.
  • Arrange collections and final deliveries across the UK.
  • Handle customer enquiries and resolve operational issues efficiently.
  • Ensure all files are completed accurately and invoiced promptly.
  • Maintain excellent communication with internal departments and external partners.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, IATA procedures and company operating standards.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through exceptional service.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working within an Air Import Freight Forwarding role (2-3 years' experience).
  • Good understanding of UK customs procedures.
  • Experience dealing with airlines, overseas agents and transport providers.
  • Strong knowledge of import documentation.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple shipments.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced freight forwarding environment.
  • Experience using CargoWise or a similar freight forwarding system would be advantageous.
