We're partnering with a growing logistics business in Southampton looking to appoint a Named Transport Manager to take responsibility for their Operator Licence and lead the transport function. This is a senior, business-critical role offering real autonomy, influence, and long-term progression.
The Role
- As the named Transport Manager, you will take full responsibility for ensuring the transport operation runs safely, legally, and efficiently.
- You'll work closely with senior leadership, drivers, and external maintenance providers to maintain the highest standards of compliance and operational performance across both UK and international movements.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the named Transport Manager on the Operator Licence.
- Ensure full compliance with all Operator Licence undertakings and DVSA regulations.
- Manage driver compliance (hours, WTD, tachographs, CPC, licence checks).
- Oversee fleet maintenance, ensuring vehicles are roadworthy and compliant.
- Lead transport planning to maximise fleet utilisation while maintaining legal standards.
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready compliance records.
- Lead internal audits and prepare for DVSA/Traffic Commissioner inspections.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Recruit, manage, and develop drivers and transport staff.
- Deliver driver briefings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
- International CPC (Road Haulage) - essential.
- Eligible to be named on a Standard International Operator Licence.
- Proven experience managing an LGV operation (ideally 5+ years).
- Strong knowledge of transport legislation, DVSA expectations, and compliance.
- Confident leader with the ability to challenge and improve standards.
- Highly organised with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
- Class 1 (C+E) licence.
- Experience with OCRS improvement or FORS / Earned Recognition.
- Familiarity with transport systems such as ESDAL or similar.
