Logistics Coordinator
St Albans 30,000- 40,000 depending on experience
Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:30pm
One Saturday morning every four weeks, 8:30am to 11:00am
Looking for a logistics role where you can take ownership, solve problems and put your commercial judgement to work? Join an established European logistics business, coordinating freight movements across the UK and Europe.
Based in a modern St Albans office, you'll work alongside experienced logistics professionals within a successful, financially strong group. This is a varied role where your decisions matter, your contribution is recognised and you can continue developing your knowledge of international transport.
Freight forwarding experience is preferred, but strong candidates from transport planning, haulage operations, European transport coordination, shipping or distribution planning are also encouraged to apply.

The role
You’ll organise freight movements across the UK and Europe, balancing customer requirements, transport costs and service quality.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and coordinating freight movements from booking through to delivery
- Liaising with customers and suppliers, providing clear instructions and updates
- Negotiating rates to secure cost-effective transport solutions
- Processing customer orders accurately through the operating system
- Preparing customs documentation for shipments moving to and from Europe
- Resolving transport issues and responding to changing requirements
- Building strong customer relationships through regular telephone contact
- Identifying opportunities to improve margins and develop existing business
About you
We're looking for someone with a strong background in coordinating transport or freight movements, excellent communication skills and the confidence to make decisions.
Relevant experience could include:
- Freight forwarding operations
- Transport planning or traffic office coordination
- Haulage operations
- European road transport
- Shipping or import/export coordination
- Distribution planning or supply chain roles involving transport management
You’ll also bring strong organisation, attention to detail, commercial awareness and a positive approach to customer service. Experience negotiating with customers or transport providers would be particularly valuable.
