Shipping Supervisor Southampton Up to £45,000 (DOE) Excellent progression opportunities

We\’re working with a well-established logistics and shipping business who are seeking an experienced Operations & Sales Supervisor to join their growing Southampton team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a solid background in ocean freight, out-of-gauge, or breakbulk operations to step into a leadership role that combines hands-on operational management with commercial development.

The Role

As a ShippingSupervisor, you\’ll oversee a small, dedicated team handling daily operations across import, export, and project shipments. You\’ll take ownership of service delivery, team performance, and customer satisfaction-while also driving commercial growth through proactive pricing, quotations, and business development support.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise a small team managing day-to-day ocean freight and project logistics operations
• Oversee out-of-gauge and breakbulk movements, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timely delivery
• Support and guide the team on shipment planning, documentation, and carrier liaison
• Manage and develop key customer relationships, acting as the main point of contact for commercial discussions
• Prepare and negotiate competitive rates and quotes
• Collaborate with senior management to identify opportunities for service and revenue growth
• Monitor performance metrics and contribute to process improvements

About You

• Proven background in shipping, ocean freight, out-of-gauge, or breakbulk logistics
• Previous experience supervising or mentoring a small team
• Strong commercial mindset with experience in sales, pricing, or account management
• Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills
• Confident working directly with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
• A proactive, driven professional who\’s keen to develop and grow within a dynamic business
