Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the full sea freight import process, from origin to final delivery
- Liaise with global offices and agents to ensure smooth coordination of shipments
- Negotiate rates with suppliers to deliver best-value solutions for clients
- Select appropriate contracts and carriers to suit individual customer needs
- Provide competitive quotations and monitor market trends
- Maintain clear and regular communication with clients throughout the shipment lifecycle
- Ensure accurate documentation to support customs clearance
- Coordinate delivery schedules with hauliers and suppliers
- Troubleshoot and resolve delays or shipment issues as they arise
- Manage invoicing and cost control to ensure accurate margin tracking
- Join client visits alongside the sales team to build long-term relationships
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in ocean imports within freight forwarding
- Strong knowledge of end-to-end import processes, including customs procedures
- Confident in negotiating rates and selecting suitable carriers
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple shipments at once
- A proactive problem-solver who can remain calm under pressure
- Comfortable working with freight management systems and Microsoft Office
