The Role
As Ocean Export Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing international export shipments from start to finish, ensuring customers receive a seamless and professional service throughout their relocation journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage ocean export shipments from booking through to final destination delivery
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the shipping process
- Liaise with shipping lines, overseas agents, and international partners to secure bookings and manage schedules
- Prepare and issue shipping instructions and Bills of Lading
- Complete export customs declarations using HMRC CDS
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively communicate updates to customers
- Coordinate customs clearance and final delivery arrangements with overseas partners
- Produce customer invoices using internal systems
- Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation
- Resolve operational issues quickly and professionally to minimise disruption to customers
- Ensure all shipments are handled in line with company procedures and compliance requirements
About You
We are looking for an organised and customer-focused export professional who can confidently manage multiple shipments while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' experience within ocean freight forwarding, export shipping, logistics, or international removals
- Strong understanding of ocean export procedures and shipping documentation
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
Desirable Experience
- Experience preparing Bills of Lading and shipping instructions
- Experience working with shipping lines, NVOCCs, and overseas agents
- Experience handling both FCL and LCL shipments
- Knowledge of customs procedures and export compliance
- Experience within household goods, relocation, or international removals sectors
