An excellent opportunity has arisen with a well-established and internationally recognised freight forwarding group for an experienced Multi-Modal Pricing & Quotation Specialist to join their Southampton operation. This position would suit somebody with a strong freight forwarding background who enjoys the commercial side of operations, pricing, and customer interaction, particularly within air and sea freight movements.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the commercial and operational teams by producing competitive spot quotations, negotiating rates with carriers and suppliers, and helping secure new and existing business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Managing and producing spot quotations across air freight, sea freight, and some road freight shipments
- Negotiating buy rates with airlines, shipping lines, hauliers, and overseas partners
- Supporting the sales team with competitive pricing solutions for both new and existing customers
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and carriers
- Monitoring market trends and rate fluctuations to ensure commercially competitive pricing
- Liaising closely with operations teams to ensure quotations are operationally viable and profitable
- Supporting tender and RFQ opportunities where required
- Following up quotations and helping maximise conversion opportunities
- Previous experience within freight forwarding pricing, quotations, or internal sales
- Strong knowledge of air freight and sea freight operations and pricing structures
- Experience handling spot quotations and supplier rate negotiations is essential
- Good understanding of import and export freight movements
- Exposure to road freight pricing would be advantageous
- Strong commercial awareness and communication skills
- Ability to work within a fast-paced freight forwarding environment
- Internal sales or customer development experience would be highly desirable
- Salary up to £36,000 depending on experience
