Are you an experienced Site Chemist with a background in hazardous waste looking to take the next step in your career? We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing waste management business that is investing in its people, facilities and future. Working at a busy hazardous waste treatment facility, you'll play a key role in ensuring waste is assessed, handled and processed safely and compliantly, while supporting operational excellence across the site.
The Role
As a Site Chemist, you'll be responsible for the technical assessment, acceptance and management of hazardous waste streams, ensuring all activities are carried out safely and in line with environmental legislation and site permits. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing, identifying and classifying hazardous waste streams.
- Ensuring compliance with site permits, environmental legislation and waste acceptance criteria.
- Sampling, inspecting and verifying incoming waste materials.
- Supporting the safe storage, segregation and processing of hazardous waste.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate technical documentation and waste tracking records.
- Liaising with operational teams to ensure safe and efficient site operations.
- Investigating and reporting non-conforming waste loads.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, health & safety and environmental compliance.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
What We're Looking For
We're keen to speak with candidates who have experience working within hazardous waste, treatment, transfer or industrial services environments. Ideally you'll have:
- A degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science or another relevant scientific discipline.
- Previous experience as a Site Chemist, Technical Assessor or Hazardous Waste Chemist.
- Strong knowledge of hazardous waste classification and waste acceptance procedures.
- A good understanding of environmental legislation and Health & Safety requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- The ability to work effectively within a fast-paced operational environment.
- A forklift licence would be advantageous, although full training can be provided.
