We are looking for an experienced Operations Supervisor to support the day-to-day running of a busy logistics depot and customer service operation in Felixstowe. This is a hands-on role suited to a confident leader with strong operational knowledge, excellent people management skills, and a commitment to high standards of safety, compliance, and service delivery.
Working closely with the Operations Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring efficient depot operations and maintaining excellent performance across the team.
Key Responsibilities- Operational Supervision
- Oversee the daily supervision of drivers and vehicles within the depot.
- Ensure operational targets and service standards are consistently met.
- Support resource planning, including agency driver bookings when required.
- Support driver recruitment, onboarding, and development.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, drivers' log sheets, and PODs.
- Promote effective use of in-cab technology by the driving team.
- Assist with disciplinary and grievance matters in line with company procedures.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety standards and company policies.
- Support compliance with transport regulations and 'O' licence requirements.
- Maintain a strong safety culture across the depot.
- Process operational documentation including PODs, timesheets, and paperwork.
- Provide administrative support to the management team.
- Ensure compliance with information systems and data policies.
- Liaise with drivers, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service levels, and profitability.
- Support the Operations Manager with day-to-day operational activities.
- Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in a logistics, transport, or operational supervisory role.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Good understanding of transport operations, compliance, and health & safety.
- Organised, proactive, and able to prioritise effectively.
