We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly respected freight forwarding group based in Liverpool, who are looking to add an experienced Export Operator to their growing operations team. The Role
The company is ideally looking for someone with multi-modal freight forwarding experience; however, strong ocean export operations experience is essential for this position. You will be responsible for managing export shipments from start to finish, ensuring smooth coordination between customers, carriers, overseas agents, and internal departments. This is a fast-paced operational role suited to someone who enjoys taking ownership of shipments and delivering high levels of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle end-to-end ocean export shipments (FCL & LCL)
- Arrange bookings with shipping lines and carriers
- Prepare and process export documentation
- Liaise with customers, overseas agents, hauliers, and shipping lines
- Monitor shipments and provide proactive updates to clients
- Complete customs and compliance procedures where required
- Manage shipment costing and invoicing
- Support air and road freight operations where applicable
- Ensure high levels of customer service and operational accuracy
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5-10 years' experience within freight forwarding operations
- Strong ocean export operations experience (essential)
- Multi-modal freight experience (advantageous)
- Good understanding of export documentation and shipping procedures
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively within a busy operational environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Experience using freight forwarding systems such as CargoWise or similar would be beneficial
