We are partnering with a well-established and financially secure UK logistics business to recruit an experienced Transport Manager for a key operational site in the Dover area. This is an excellent opportunity to join a progressive European transport and freight forwarding operation with a strong reputation, modern facilities, and a supportive senior leadership team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and high standards across fleet and driver performance.
The Role
As Transport Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of drivers and fleet operations, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring fleet and driver compliance with UK and EU regulations, including monitoring driver hours and managing infringements.
- Coaching, training and performance-managing drivers, including implementing structured improvement plans.
- Recruitment, induction and ongoing development of HGV drivers.
- Managing driver conduct and disciplinary processes where required.
- Reviewing driver timesheets, overtime and bonus data.
- Supporting and deputising for the Site & Warehouse Manager when required.
- Working closely with operations teams to maximise driver and fleet utilisation.
- Investigating incidents involving vehicles, trailers or loads.
- Liaising with the on-site workshop to manage repairs, servicing and MOT/PMI schedules.
- Contributing to future vehicle and trailer specification decisions.
- Managing supplier relationships and driver equipment provision.
- Reviewing driver documentation and developing understanding of post-Brexit customs processes (training provided).
You will work from a modern office environment within a large freight terminal and collaborate with teams across multiple locations.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday: 08:00 - 17:30 On-call responsibility

Salary: Β£55,000+ depending on experience

About You
You will be a confident, credible leader with strong operational knowledge and excellent people management skills.
Essential requirements:
- Proven UK or European transport management experience
- UK and International CPC
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong organisational and analytical ability
- Professional, positive and proactive attitude
- Numerate and literate with strong attention to detail
- Previous Class 1 licence holder
- Ambitious, resilient, empathetic and well-organised
