The Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Freight Forwarder to take the lead in a pivotal, fast-paced operation. You will manage end-to-end international shipments across air and road (and occasionally sea), ensuring seamless execution while driving the team to achieve success.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage international freight movements via Air and Road (essential) and Sea
- Plan routings, coordinate with carriers and partners, and oversee documentation accuracy
- Oversee customs and insurance documentation, ensuring export control compliance
- Maintain chain of custody for sensitive or classified consignments
- Lead the use of the Forward Solutions TMS, developing smarter, more automated workflows
- Identify opportunities to streamline or outsource services for maximum efficiency
- Monitor costs, margins, and negotiate competitive rates
- Coach and lead a small, high-performing Freight Forwarding team
What You Will Bring
- 5 - 10 years proven experience working in a freight forwarding position in the UK for a freight forwarder
- Proven ability managing time-critical or secure shipments
- Customs expertise, including UK Customs Declaration Service entries
- Practical knowledge of Incoterms, export licensing, and trade compliance
- Strong system skills, ideally with Forward Solutions or similar TMS, plus Excel proficiency
- IATA or IMDG certification (preferred)
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites
