We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Compliance Officer to take ownership of day-to-day compliance activities within a dynamic logistics and regulated-environment organisation. You will report to the Head of Compliance and work across policy management, risk assessment, audit delivery and accreditation readiness. This role offers genuine responsibility and scope for career progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve the central policy and SOP library; deliver briefings and manage acceptance records.
- Oversee digital insurance and vehicle documentation, and ensure training/compliance records are audit-ready.
- Lead risk assessments for drivers, vehicles, facilities and cyber; maintain a live risk register and dashboard.
- Review and refresh the business continuity plan, deliver exercises to test readiness; support incident investigations.
- Track health and safety duties, first aid cover, alarms and regulatory changes.
- Deliver internal audits against ISO 9001 and ISO 14001; monitor vehicle inspection/service sheets and driver timesheet checks.
- Support accreditation efforts including ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus and Defence Cyber Certification.
- Manage supplier/third-party compliance registers and evidence trails to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct training needs analyses and manage the training matrix; use Office 365 (SharePoint/Teams) and Excel dashboards.
- Provide monthly compliance reporting and legislation updates to senior leadership.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential: Experience in a compliance, audit or governance role within logistics, transport, defence or another regulated environment. Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, including internal audit delivery. Experience in risk assessment across people, vehicles, facilities or cyber domains. Proficient with SharePoint/Teams and advanced Excel for tracker/dashboards. Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder-influencing skills. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites. Must be a British citizen or dual UK national, eligible for SC clearance.
Desirable: Knowledge of ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus or Defence Cyber Certification (or willingness to learn). Understanding of the Working Time Directive, Aviation Security for freight operations and data protection (Official Sensitive handling).
