Location: Witham - during probation
Salary: Up to £42,000 (DEO)
Hours: 4 on 4 off, 6pm-6am
We are recruiting for one of the UK's leading logistics and freight companies that operate worldwide and offer a full range of services in the UK, across Europe and internationally across all trade routes. This role will initially be out of our clients Witham depot, followed by hybrid working or completely remote after the training period.
We seek an experienced Export Customs Clerk to complement their existing night team.
Key Responsibilities for Export Customs Clerk - Nights:- Working in a fast-paced European Road Freight environment
- Create job files, and accurately enter data into customs software to submit entries promptly
- Entering details onto specialised Customs software including CDS, CNS, Destin8, CTS, NES etc
- Track and monitor declaration status
- Processing refunds via HMRC
- Liaising with exporters & (sometimes) importers and internal operational colleagues to obtain mandatory information
- Allocating the correct licences depending on type of goods being imported
- Inform customers on import restrictions, tariff systems, insurance requirements and all other Customs related matters
- Signing/completion of customs documents under a Power of Attorney, on behalf of clients
- Calculate and process taxes and duties to be paid by buyers of goods.
- Be fully conversant with import Customs regulations, whilst keeping up to date with changes as they occur.
- Liaise with Port Health, Border Force of HMRC officials in areas such as document checks, goods quarantine etc.
- Arrange the release of goods from Customs-approved sites (ETSF locations) and/or port of arrival with liaison with internal colleagues on release, transport & warehousing issues
- Previous experience working in a road freight export customs role
- A clear understanding of customs procedures
- Experience of CDS, Descartes, Destin8 / CNS
- Trade tariff knowledge
- Knowledge of HMRC compliance and regulations
- Self-motivating with the ability to organise your workload effectively
- Work in a fast-paced environment ensuring clearance processes are completed in a compliant and timely manner
- Experienced user of Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word and Outlook
